A large clump of bamboo on the roadside in Betul’s Chakkar Road area suddenly caught fire. Within a few minutes the fire spread rapidly and panic spread in the surrounding residential areas. Burning bamboo pieces started falling on the electrical wires while sparking also started due to the power supply being on. A fire broke out in a field adjacent to a bamboo plantation and the wheat crop grown in about half an acre of the field was burnt to ashes. Two fire fighters immediately reached the spot with the help of which the fire was controlled. The electricity supply in the area has been badly affected due to the burnt electrical wires. Traffic has been stopped on one lane of the road. Due to being a weekly market, there was more movement of people in this area today, which was stopped by the police.
